Volunteer Opportunites in Oakland?

I live in Oakland, CA, and I have been looking around for an organization to volunteer with so that I can gain some employment-friendly skills and earn some college credit. I've volunteered for various organizations in the past, but these were mostly one-time events or basically grunt work (which I have nothing against-- every little bit helps, and it was a great way to burn some energy as a teenager). Now I'm looking for something long-term that would ideally serve me well in the future as a healthcare provider. I'd also be interested in learning more about local organizations that serve the Native American community. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

volunteering in Oakland

It's great that you want to help our community. Volunteering is a great way to boost your skills and add to your resume. I'm partial to the Junior League, but I'm not sure if they are currently working on anything for Native Americans. Here's a link to their projects in Oakland.

You might want to check out this site:

Maybe this organization can point you in the right direction for helping the Native American community? It looks like it might be helpful.

Best wishes,

Michelle
